Home Health Care a Good Place to Be During Recession

Gainesville, GA (March 4, 2009) – While there is truly no such thing as 100 percent job security, especially during these difficult economic times, healthcare is a much more stable industry to be in right now than many others. Healthcare jobs are providing the best opportunities for income and employment. These jobs are also the jobs within the fastest growing occupations, the occupations with the largest job growth, as well as the top growing jobs through 2016, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Jobs in the health care sector “are expected to make up seven of the 20 fastest growing occupations” between now and 2016, according to the BLS. Home healthcare is the fastest growing industry in the health care sector.
Most people who choose home care request personal care and support services. These services provide hands-on assistance with the activities of daily living for people who cannot complete these tasks independently or who cannot be left alone while performing these tasks for safety reasons.
Services include assistance with:
□ bathing and showering
□ dressing and clothing
□ toileting and incontinence care
□ personal grooming and skin care
□ walking and transferring
□ wheelchairs and walkers
□ meal preparation and eating
□ answering and screening calls
□ assisting to medical appointments or errands
□ updating immediate family or friends
Personal care and support services can be combined with homemaking, companion, and/or medication reminders services.

Qualified personal caregivers are trained by their agency in accordance with state licensing rules and regulations, undergo criminal background checks, have provided satisfactory references prior to employment, and should be fully insured. This personal care and support can be provided on a daily, weekly, or as-needed basis.
