Arbor Day Celebration on February 20

Gainesville, GA – February 2009: The Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce Annual Arbor Day Celebration is Friday, February 20 at 10 a.m. at the Featherbone Communiversity in Gainesville.

Sponsored by Keep Hall Beautiful and Georgia Power Company, Arbor Day 2009 festivities include a joint Proclamation from the City of Gainesville and Hall County presented along with recognition of Gainesville’s status as a Tree City USA. Tree City USA recognizes towns and cities across the United States that meet standards designed to promote and manage urban forests. Gainesville has been recognized as a Tree City USA for 22 consecutive years.

A slide show of former Hall County Champion Trees and State Winners will be presented by the Georgia Forestry Commission.

Student winners in the “Trees are Terrific, In Cities and Towns” Art Contest will be honored and recognized as well. The art contest was open to all 5th graders in elementary schools in Gainesville and Hall County.
