{"id":444,"date":"2017-01-23T13:10:26","date_gmt":"2017-01-23T18:10:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghcc.com\/?page_id=444"},"modified":"2024-01-12T12:40:41","modified_gmt":"2024-01-12T17:40:41","slug":"youth-leadership-hall","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ghcc.com\/education\/youth-leadership-hall\/","title":{"rendered":"Youth Leadership Hall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ghcc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/YLH-Riverside.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4423 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghcc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/YLH-Riverside-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ghcc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/YLH-Riverside-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ghcc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/YLH-Riverside-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.ghcc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/YLH-Riverside-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.ghcc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/YLH-Riverside-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.ghcc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/YLH-Riverside.jpg 1512w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Youth Leadership Hall (YLH) is a leadership development program for high school juniors and seniors.\u00a0\u00a0 Founded in 2005, the program seeks to build individual leadership skills, foster positive group dynamics and increase civic and community involvement.\u00a0 Over 1,100 students have successfully completed the program through a series of sessions combining lectures and tours on such topics as the Judicial System, Economic Development, Social Services and Career Development.<\/p>\n<p>While each year follows a similar format, programs adjusted to meet the specific needs and interests of the class while also staying abreast of current events.\u00a0 Students network with business leaders throughout community and gain career knowledge from a large variety of resources.\u00a0 Benefits include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gaining valuable leadership and communication skills, while realizing the importance of a team<\/li>\n<li>Building a sense of civic responsibility and servant leadership by participating in community service projects<\/li>\n<li>Developing relationships with others from different ethnic, religious, and cultural groups<\/li>\n<li>Sharing hands-on activities and team building exercises outside of the classroom walls<\/li>\n<li>Becoming confident, self-motivated leaders ready to make their mark in our community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>APPLICATION PROCESS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>For public and private high school students:<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>The selection process begins in November each year with application information sent to each school. \u00a0Educators nominate students.\u00a0 Potential participants are asked to complete an application and provide a letter of reference from a community leader.\u00a0 Previous applicants who were not chosen may reapply the following year, if eligible.<\/p>\n<p>Review of final nominations from each school occurs in February and March by a Selection Committee comprised of Leadership Hall County graduates and members of the business community.\u00a0 The Selection Committee strives to achieve balance in the class by ensuring diversity of race, ethnicity, gender, and schools.
