VISION 2030 ARTWORK DISPLAYED ON AREA BILLBOARDS

GAINESVILLE, GA – 01/19/07: Fairway Outdoor Advertising will host an unveiling of Vision 2030 Artwork on their billboards located in the Greater Hall County community. The unveiling event is Friday, January 26 at 9:00 a.m. at the Motel 6 on US 129 (Athens Highway) south of I-985. Fairway Outdoor billboards will feature the artwork by students as part of the VISION 2030 art contest. Over 150 students participated in the contest which sought to visualize the VISION 2030 project.

The Vision 2030 Art Contest was open to all residents in Gainesville and Hall County and included home schooled students as well. Winners were selected in three categories, Elementary, Middle School and High School grade levels. Artwork being presented on the first billboard is a collaborative effort of Wauka Mountain Elementary. All students from Kindergarten through 5th grade worked on the project that includes 10 murals.

Art contest winners included: Elementary School Winner – Wauka Mountain Elementary (K-5 collaborative effort); Middle School Winner – Devin Myers, West Hall Middle School; High School Winner – Alan Vitek, North Hall High School.

“At Fairway Outdoor, we understand that we have a responsibility to be good stewards not just to the businesses we serve, but also the community at large,” said Steve Guild, General Manager, Fairway Outdoor Advertising of Georgia and Alabama. “After all, we are one of the most visible members of the community at large. Because the foundation of outdoor advertising is helping local business be successful and grow, a partnership with Vision 2030 is an ideal fit. We are excited about donating space to help raise awareness of Vision 2030 and its efforts.”

VISION 2030 is a nine-month project, sponsored by the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce to create a strategic plan for Gainesville-Hall County. The initiative began with a series of 12 community meetings this fall where citizens described how they would like Hall County to look and work in the next 25 years. In the coming months, VISION 2030 officials and volunteers will convene planning groups to map out recommendations and strategies to make the citizens’ vision a reality.

“Many thanks to Fairway Outdoor Advertising for this generous gift to the Vision 2030 effort and for recognizing the artistic talent of our youth,” said Denise Deal, Executive Director of VISION 2030 and Chairman-Elect of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce. “The VISION 2030 initiative reminds us that “The Future is Ours to See” and the visionary artwork presented by these students represents how bright our future is perceived by the next generation of leaders in our community.”
