New Welcome Center Display at Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce

Tourism brings millions of dollars into our economy through jobs/employee wages, taxes, food, hotels, suppliers and retail stores – adding economic opportunities for all. In addition, tourism seldom places extensive stress on infrastructure. In May 2003, the Regional Welcome Center, on I-985 between Flowery Branch and Oakwood, brought in nearly 4,000 visitors, including 38 groups from 21 different countries.

The Greater Hall County Chamber of Commerce’s new facility on E.E. Butler Parkway in Gainesville features an expanded Welcome Center. An attractive, state-of-the-art display contains hundreds of pieces of visitor and relocation resource materials – booklets, brochures, maps.

Since relocation to the new Chamber facility in April, some 2,000 walk-in visitors have come to the Chamber Welcome Center with over 2,100 telephone inquiries received.

“With the summer season upon us, visitor and relocation on-site visits along with telephone inquiries have increased,” said Welcome Center Manager Audrey White. “The 2003 Canoe/Kayak World Championships in September will bring in additional visitors seeking community information.”
