Martha Simmons was presented the W.G. Mealor Chairman’s Award at the May 17 Annual Meeting and Gala by Greater Hall Chamber Chairman Brent Hoffman.
“Martha exemplifies the highest ethical and work standards, has extraordinary vision, and leads by example,” said Hoffman. “She believes in giving back to the community and has accomplished many good things in her work and volunteerism including serving as past Chamber Chairman, participation on the building committees for her church¹s childrens center, bank and serves on the boards of the Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Brenau University, the Greater Hall Chamber and the Gainesville Redevelopment Authority.”
Greater Hall Chamber Past Chairman and SunTrust President Martha Simmons has been in the banking industry for 30 years. She has worked for the Greater Hall Chamber as Vice Chair of Education, Chairman of the Board of Directors and, this year, as Co-Chair of the HALLmark Initiative campaign. She will continue to serve next year by assisting with the Chamber’s new building plans. Simmons was also recently named Woman of the Year by the American Business Women¹s Association (ABWA).
Chosen by an impartial selection committee from Atlanta, Simmons received the award based on her professional accomplishments in her career as well as her community activities and involvement. Founded in 1986, ABWA is part of a national network of business women that encourages the development of personal and professional skills for successful careers. For the past 15 years, the 44-member Gainesville Chapter has donated more than $27,000 in scholarships to local women.
