Keep Hall Beautiful director receives state honor

Keep Hall Beautiful’s Cindy Reed was awarded the Barbara Mason Award for Executive Director of the Year at the Keep Georgia Beautiful Awards Luncheon on Wednesday in Atlanta.

The award is named in honor of Barbara Mason, who dedicated her life to preserving the environment and establishing the Keep America Beautiful system in Georgia and the nation. Under her leadership, significant improvements were made in Georgia in the areas of waste reduction, conservation of resources, property maintenance, quality of life and beautification.

“Cindy truly deserves this award. She took an organization that was in a state of decline and raised it up so we have a fully functioning board and a place of impact in the community,” said Rick Foote, Hall County Natural Resources Coordinator and president of the Keep Hall Beautiful Board of Directors.

Nearly 300 Georgians attended the 32nd annual awards luncheon at the Emory Conference Center Hotel. The annual program honored individuals and organizations working to improve Georgia’s environment.

Keep Hall Beautiful is a 501c3 organization dedicated to educating citizens about environmental stewardship. Through volunteer projects, citizens are involved in communitiy clean-ups, beautification efforts, special events, recycling, and tree plantings.
