• The Greater Hall Chamber’s 93rd Annual Gala will be held at Brenau University on May 16 at 7:00 p.m. The program includes recognition of Chamber leaders and awards followed by a reception on the University lawn, as in recent years. • The Gainesville City School Board of Education named Willie Mitchell as its new chairman. Mitchell, who succeeds Kelvin Simmons, will hold the post for two years. Other officers named include Lee Highsmith, vice chairman and Frank Harben, treasurer. 770-536-5275.

• Cardiac surgeons Alexander G. Justicz, MD and Daniel G. Winston, MD join the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in preparation for the opening of the Ronnie Green Heart Center this summer. • Geri Naylor has joined the public relations team of Morton Vardeman & Carlson. Naylor was previously a marketing consultant for several regional and national companies and has more than 18 years of experience in public relations and and marketing. Naylor is a graduate of Auburn University and earned her master’s degree from the University of Georgia. • Brenau University’s Alumni Office announces Joy Gentile as the assistant director of alumni affairs. She completed her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in December 2001 and joined the Brenau staff in January.
