Get Fit Stay Fit Corporate Challenge 5K Run
The Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce Healthcare Committee continues to promote VISION 2030’s Community Health and Wellness Initiative. Following the successful HealthSmart Interactive Health and Wellness Expo in October, the group is now challenging all local companies to participate in Get Fit Stay Fit, a Corporate Challenge 5K Run sponsored by Consumers Life on Thursday, March 20, 2008.
The event begins at 6:00 p.m. at Riverside Military Academy. With hopes of recruiting business teams and 300 runners, prizes will be awarded in all age groups and a special Runners Cup will be awarded to the Fastest Corporate Team, to the Fastest CEO and the Best Team Spirit. These cups will travel each year to the winning companies. There will also be an incentive for all employees to participate whether by running in the 5K or supporting their team.
“I’m excited about the event and the fact that it will become an annual competition among local employers,” said Steve McNeilly, Director of Northeast Georgia Health Partners and member of the Corporate Challenge planning committee. “The 5k run/walk provides a great venue for skilled runners or those just beginning a fitness program. Employers that are committed to health and wellness for their employees should definitely have a team.”
Registration is $15 per runner, and proceeds from Get Fit Stay Fit will benefit youth wellness programs at the Boys & Girls Club of Hall County and the Hall County YMCA.
Lanier Running Club is assisting in the coordination of the running event, and the Hall County YMCA will provide a COMPLIMENTARY eight (8) week training program to all team members and individuals that register by January 10 . A Team Captains drop-by orientation is scheduled for Thursday, January 10 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Hall County YMCA.
The Title Sponsor for Get Fit Stay Fit is Consumers Life. Current Gold Sponsors include The Longstreet Clinic and ProTherapy. Silver Sponsor is Northeast Georgia Health System. For sponsor or company team registration information, call Robyn Lynch, 770-532-6206. Email: email@example.com
“Get Fit Stay Fit 5K gives area businesses a great opportunity to have some fun while promoting employee wellness. I intend to take up the YMCA’s on their eight week training offer. See you at the finish line!”
