Headquartered in Ohio with its parent company in the United Kingdom, paint manufacturer ICI Company opened its South Hall County facility in 1982. Paul Hoelzer, with the support of Oakwood’s 114 employees, oversees operation of the facility which manufactures and distributes millions of gallons of paint each year throughout North America.
Since its opening, ICI has remained a strong local community partner by participating as a Partner in Education with South Hall Middle School and making continuous donations of paint to schools. Paint donations include many of the local high schools: East Hall, Flowery Branch, Johnson High, Mill Creek, North Hall and West Hall High Schools.
Other paint donations have gone to local churches, along with financial donations to the March of Dimes, United Way, Habitat for Humanity, Challenged Child, Gainesville/Hall County Fraternal Order of Police and various youth programs. ICI contributed to the addition and renovation of the new Chamber of Commerce building by providing the paint. Total donations through September 2004 totaled over 1,000 gallons of paint!
