Bullets from the Board!

• Kelly Miles, Smith, Gilliam, Williams & Miles, will chair the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce Bylaws Revision Committee and will also evaluate and update the Chamber’s Personnel Manual.



• Current Chamber Treasurer Bill Galardi, Community Bank & Trust, proposed the Board appoint a “Treasurer-in-Training” to assist the incoming treasurer in learning the responsibilities and details of the position from the current treasurer. Doug Higgins, Wachovia, will fill this position.



• Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce officers and staff conducted an analysis of the Chamber’s current membership dues structure. After consulting with various chambers of commerce in Georgia and across the nation, an updated dues structure has been adopted. This marks the first dues increase since January 1998. The updated structure will bring the Chamber in line with other comparably-sized chambers and goes into effect November 1, 2002.



• Lance Compton, Red Clay Interactive recently presented the new website: www.siliconlakelanier.com. The site was developed as a marketing tool to send electronically to site selection corporations and corporate realtors. The major selling point is Hall County’s location and the theme, “Live, Work, Play.”



• 48 companies have enrolled in the Chamber’s Drugs Don’t Work program (and are saving on workers comp premiums) since its inception in 1998. Most recent companies signing on include Staffing Professionals, Inc. and Qualcon.



• The Board of Directors will assist in membership recruitment by each board member signing up two new Chamber members during the year.



• Shelley Davis, Greater Hall Chamber Assistant Vice President of Economic Development completed the Georgia Tech Local Economic Impact Analysis (LOCI) course in September.
