Benny Bagwell is serving his third year as chairman the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce’s South Hall Council.
Born and raised in Hall County, he attended South Hall High, Gainesville College and received an AST in Electrical Engineering in 1980.
Benny started his career with Jackson Electric Membership Corporation in 1972. During his 29 years with Jackson EMC, he has worked as a lineman, staking engineer, member service advisor, and currently district coordinator of engineering and operations. Bagwell’s current duties at Jackson EMC include responsibility for engineering, construction, and maintenance.
Previous Chamber involvement includes participation on the Ambassador Council and a member if the Infrastructure Committee.
Benny frequently volunteers in the community and has held offices of past president of South Hall Rotary, past president of Lanier Areas Utilities Association, past trustee Lanier Technical Institute, and past trustee Gainesville College.
In addition to the Chamber, he currently serves as chairman of the Hall County Board of Adjustments, board member of Chicopee Woods Green Committee, and member of Board of Trustees Redwine United Methodist Church.
“As chairman of the South Hall Council, I try to keep the Chamber involved in all the issues facing South Hall, such as the sewer authority,” said Bagwell.
Benny and his wife Susan Brown Bagwell have been married for thirty-two years and live in Chestnut Mountain. His son, Tim, is senior Pastor of Northstar Baptist Church in Marysville, Washington.
