ACE Hardware’s Gainesville Retail Support Center (RSC) relocated from Conyers, Georgia in September 1989. The 500,000 sq. ft. warehouse currently supports 356 independently owned and operated Ace retailers requiring 83 routes and delivering 430 shipments per week. The retailers are located in Georgia, South Carolina, Western North Carolina, Eastern Tennessee and Southeastern Kentucky.
To accomplish the many tasks associated with serving the retailer base, the Gainesville RSC employs 160 individuals in various warehouse, traffic, administrative and management functions.
With a strong employee emphasis on maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, this location has experienced over three years of continuous workdays with “zero lost workdays due to workplace injuries or illnesses.” As a direct result, the Gainesville RSC was recently awarded the Georgia Department of Labor Award of Excellence.
ACE Hardware’s Gainesville RSC has been through many changes in the past year due to the closing of the Charlotte, South Carolina RSC and the opening of a new RSC in Prince George, Virginia. Despite the many changes, Craig Duplantis, Distribution Center Manager, stated, “In 2001, the Gainesville Distribution Center overcame the repositioning of our service regions.”
When asked about the economy, he indicated, “While our sales demand decreased almost 12%, our operating expense improved by 3%. These results showcase what a dedicated workforce with outstanding team members can accomplish.”
