96th Annual Meeting & Gala

The Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce 96th Annual Meeting and Gala is May 13, 2004 and will be held on the campus of Brenau University. The “Celebrating Our Success” program will feature The Honorable Nathan Deal, U.S. Congressman, 10th District of Georgia, as keynote speaker.



Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce Chairman Benny Bagwell, Chairman-Elect Rob Fowler and President/CEO Kit Dunlap invite members and guests to a very special night of recognition and accomplishment with the announcement of the Small Business of the Year, the new Family Business of the Year, Silver Shovel Winners and the President’s Award recipients. A champagne reception follows the program in Yonah Hall at Brenau University with delicious food, music and fun. Sponsors for the reception include Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Jackson EMC and Northeast Georgia Health System, Inc.



Event Chairman Sloan Jones (Gainesville College) and the committee have planned an exciting evening. The annual business meeting will be held in Pearce Auditorium at Brenau University at 7:00 p.m. A reception with food and music follows the program at 8:00 p.m. Black Tie optional. Bio on Nathan Deal:

Representative Nathan Deal was first elected to Congress in 1992 and serves the people of the 10th Congressional District of Georgia. Born in 1942 and raised in Sandersville, Georgia, Nathan is an advocate for the concerns and needs of the people of the 15 North Georgia counties that he represents.



Congressman Deal, a cum laude graduate of Mercer University and Mercer Law School, served as a Captain in the United States Army from 1966-68. In 1970, he was appointed Assistant District Attorney for the Northeastern Judicial circuit. In 1971, he became a Juvenile Court Judge for Hall County. He was in private law practice in Gainesville for over 20 years. Nathan served in the Georgia Senate from 1980-1992 and was appointed president Pro Tempore of the Senate from 1990-1992.



Representative Deal is a member of the prestigious Committee on Energy and Commerce. This committee regulates commerce, trade, consumer protection, the environment, telecommunications, the Internet, energy, air quality and health. As a committee member, he serves on the Subcommittee on Health and the Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet.



Representative Deal is also a member of the Committee of Government Reform where he serves on the Subcommittees on Civil Service and Agency Organization, on Criminal Justice, Drug Policy, Human Resources, Energy Policy, Natural Resources and Regulatory Affairs.



Nathan is married to the former Sandra Dunagan and has four children: Jason, Mary Emily, Carrie and Katie and is the proud grandfather of three. He is a member of First Baptist Church of Gainesville where he serves as a Sunday School teacher and Deacon. Nathan and Sandra live in Lula.
