16th Annual “Old Time” CountryFest

Friday, September 29, and Saturday, September 30 are the dates for the 16th Annual “Old Time CountryFest at Hopewell United Methodist Church in Murrayville, Georgia. Smoked Bar-B-Q with home cooked “vittles” will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 29 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 30. Country Breakfast featuring Hopewell’s famous “cathead” biscuits will be served from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 30.
Children will enjoy horse drawn hay rides, pony rides, a petting zoo, and face painting. Adults may try their hands at blacksmithing, pottery making, and gem panning. Craft demonstrations include butter churning and tasting, spinning and weaving, yarn doll making, shingle making, chair caning, and wood bowl carving. Antique exhibits will feature tractors, gas engines, automobiles, and quilts.
Live musical performances along with the country store, the Christmas store, and the Silent Auction (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) are also part of the CountryFest experience. Silent Auction proceeds will benefit local charities.
