Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association 28th Annual OBIE Awards

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga., – Nov. 13, 2008 – Newland Communities’ Sterling on the Lake brought home two Gold and two Silver Awards from the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association’s 28th annual OBIE Awards held on Saturday, Nov. 8. The OBIE Awards program is presented by the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, Inc.’s Sales and Marketing Council to honor excellence in building, marketing and personal achievement in the homebuilding industry. The awards are judged by industry professionals across the country and are the highest honor given in the Atlanta housing industry.

Newland received four awards for marketing the community of Sterling on the Lake – a Gold Award in the category of Best Advertising Campaign by a developer, and a Gold Award for Best Billboard. The Gold Awards were for Sterling’s “Unplug” campaign which promoted, “No matter what you do during the day, if you are a resident of Sterling on the Lake, you look forward to the moment that you get to come home to Sterling and do whatever it is that you enjoy. Whether that’s playing tennis, fishing on the lake, going on a relaxing walk or just spending time with your family. The best part of your day is being at home within Sterling on the Lake.”

Silver Awards were granted for Best Print Ad Newspaper Full Page Color and Community Service (the Life is good Pumpkin Festival). In addition, Sterling on the Lake homebuilder Jim Hogan Homes was recognized with a Silver Single Family Builder Award for the best building design detached model ($500,000-$749,999).

“It is a great honor as this is the 4th year running that Sterling on the Lake has been fortunate enough to win OBIE Awards. We are very proud to be included among the best developers and builders in the Atlanta market,” said Patrick Clark, vice president for Sterling on the Lake. “Our marketing team puts a lot of attention into promoting Sterling on the Lake, and especially during this downturn in the housing market it is terrific to be recognized for our efforts.”

Held every November, the OBIE Awards began in 1980 and have grown throughout the years to now feature more than 100 building, remodeling, marketing and personal achievement categories in which to enter. Sterling on the Lake was named “Community of the Year” in the master plan category at the 2006 OBIE Awards. For more information about the OBIE Awards please visit:
