FAE Committed to Manufacturing in Georgia

Celebrating 20 Years in Forestry and Construction Equipment Innovation

Flowery Branch/Atlanta – March 12, 2009 – Mr. Diego Scanzoni, FAE Group President, announced the company’s 20th Anniversary celebration as the world’s largest manufacturer of forestry mulching and shredding attachments. He expressed commitment to manufacturing FAE products in North America in the near future.

“The U.S. has always been our strongest market for the hydraulic skid steer attachments,” said Scanzoni. “The future assembly operation at FAE USA will enable us to provide more value to our customers and business partners by increasing customer service, support, and manufacturing lead times.”

“We are proud that an innovative company like FAE Group calls Georgia home,” said Ken Stewart, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development. “As FAE plans to move forward with its plans to assemble its mulching attachments here in Georgia, we welcome their continued success.”

Founded in 1989 in northern Italy by four entrepreneurs, Mr. Angheben, Mr. Braiato, Mr. Pizzuto and Mr. Scanzoni, FAE owes much of its business success to a vertical integration of its development and production activities.

FAE, headquartered in Fondo, about 120 miles northwest of Venice, employs 200 people worldwide, including 15 in Flowery Branch, Georgia. The company manufactures a wide range of crushing, grinding, mulching, shredding, and stabilizing attachments built to outfit tractors, skid steer loaders and excavators.

Typical applications for its products include land clearing, vegetation management, road reclamation, stone crushing, forestry tilling, trail maintenance, and slope mowing.

Noting that FAE is one of those unique Italian SME’s which has managed to develop a unique niche in the world market, Atlanta-based Italian Trade Commissioner Fabrizio Giustarini stated, “We congratulate FAE on reaching such a significant milestone and are very proud of the success FAE has achieved in the US. FAE exemplifies what is best about Italian-made machinery: product innovation, leading-edge design, and the highest possible quality.”

FAE Group opened an American subsidiary, FAE USA, in Georgia in 2001. While actively selling in North America for more than a decade, management recognized the need to directly serve clients in this fast-growing market. In 2006, FAE built a $3 million 35,000 square foot, state-of-the-art office, warehouse and distribution facility in Hall County. The eight-acre industrial site will permit future expansion.

FAE USA CEO Giorgio Carera chose the location of Oakwood South Industrial Park after an extensive search throughout the Southeast. “We supply dealers and major OEMs world-wide and our Flowery Branch operation allows us to better serve those U.S. partners,” said Mr. Carera.

“Hall County is very pleased that FAE will continue to expand in the region. FAE is one of many international investor companies that are successfully growing its North American business out of Hall County. We congratulate FAE Group on 20 years of growth and innovation,” commented Kit Dunlap, President and CEO of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce.

While the current facility is used primarily for warehousing and distribution, future plans for the Flowery Branch, Georgia location include assembly of its more popular U.S. attachments for skid steer loaders. According to Mr. Carera, “Once we begin assembly on the hydraulic skid steer mulcher attachments, FAE USA will become the sole supplier for these products world-wide.”

Plans to begin assembly will bring more jobs to the region and increasing outsourcing for components will create more jobs for local suppliers. “FAE is committed to the U.S. market, and our operation will certainly help the local economy by putting people to work,” states Carera.

Currently, FAE develops and supplies machines to 45 countries around the world and has operations in Italy, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA. FAE is developing products focused on biomass applications, a hot topic here in the Southeast; the first products will be available to the world market by year-end. Giorgio Carera, with 15 years experience in the industry, states, “It is a privilege to work with a company that is always one step ahead of the competitors.”
